NEW YORK, July 29. /TASS/. The United States intends to launch powerful strikes against Iran in response to the shelling of the US military in Jordan, US President Donald Trump said as quoted by journalist Trey Yingst.

"We'll be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating," Yingst quoted Trump as saying on the Fox News channel.

However, Trump said he is willing to continue negotiations.

"We're going to let them keep talking," he said.

Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (elite units of the Iranian army) said it had attacked a US air base in Jordan and the headquarters of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces there with ballistic missiles.
