KOCHI (Metro Rail News): Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has issued bids for conducting a comprehensive topographic survey work to prepare a feasibility report for a proposed water metro network between Aluva Metro Station and Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).

The project involves conducting detailed topographic surveys for approximately 4km along the proposed water metro route connecting Aluva Metro Station to CIAL. This innovative initiative aims to leverage Kerala’s extensive network of waterways to provide seamless multi-modal connectivity between the metro rail system and the international airport.

The proposed water metro connection represents an innovative approach to integrated public transportation in Kerala. By linking the Kochi Metro system with CIAL through waterways, the project leverages the state’s extensive network of rivers and canals to provide seamless connectivity.

The approximately 4-kilometer water route will traverse through strategic locations including Aswathy Nagar, Naduvannoor, Pattoorkunnu, and Kalady before reaching the airport. The feasibility study from this survey will be crucial in determining the technical and economic viability of this pioneering water-based transit system.
