Fans aren’t the least bit surprised to learn that the so-called ‘Drake Curse’—a superstition in which the rapper’s stake in or presence at a sporting event leads to his team’s downfall—has struck again. In the latest episode, Drake revealed on Instagram that he placed a $1.5 million bet on Argentina beating Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final, even joking in the caption about his reputation for bad luck.

“What’s that saying??? Better luck…” Drake wrote in the caption of a post featuring a picture of his Stake betting slip, confirming his hefty wager and his subsequent loss.

Indeed, it seems that any time Drizzy publicizes his stake, his team or athlete inexplicably manages to lose. Of course, fans were quick to point out his past losses, such as his failed $1 million wager on Conor McGregor’s return to the UFC ring, or his past losing bet on Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win.

While Drake bet on Argentina to win in 2022 against France, the former did technically win, but only because of penalties—a fact which some fans attributed to the infamous curse, naturally. However, in 2026, Spain proved victorious against Argentina, meaning that curse is clearly flaring up again.

But it’s easy enough for Drake to laugh it off, considering he recently won a reported $30 million on betting platform Stake—at least, according to the new ad for the platform in which he stars.

Shared on his Instagram account, the ad shows Drake celebrating and saying “oh my god” nearly a hundred times as he watches his winnings increase to a massive amount. But even if the spot is all fiction, he undoubtedly was paid a pretty penny to star in it.
