The University of California, Davis, has extended offers of admission to 48,015 applicants for first-year study for fall 2026, a 4.5% increase over last year and a new record high, according to statistics released today (July 29) by the University of California.

UC Davis also made offers of admission to 10,138 transfer students, including 9,456 from California Community Colleges. Both of those numbers also are increases from the previous fall.

The university received 122,271 applications for fall 2026, a 1.8% increase over the previous record of 120,131 set last year and included a record high number of California residents.

UC Davis expects to enroll approximately 6,300 new first-year students this fall, with 73% coming from California. Of the admitted transfer students, UC Davis expects to enroll approximately 3,100, with 96% coming from California.

California residents matriculate at higher rates than U.S. domestic and international students, so they will be a higher percentage of students who enroll in the fall. About 83% of UC Davis students enrolled in fall 2025 were California residents, consistent with systemwide percentages. The 10-campus University of California system has for generations helped talented students from every corner of the state turn opportunity into achievement, making it one of California’s most important pathways to economic and social mobility.

Among the California resident students admitted for first-year studies, 34% would be the first generation in their families to attend college, and 36% are from low-income backgrounds. Among the transfers, 44% would be the first generation in their families to attend college, and 50% are from low-income backgrounds.

Among those admitted as California first-year students, 3.8% were African American; 0.5% American Indian; 27.6% Hispanic/Latino(a); 0.3% Pacific Islander; 43.2% Asian American; 19.4% White; and 5.0% unknown.

Among U.S. domestic students admitted from California community colleges, 5% were African American; 0.8% American Indian; 27% Hispanic/Latino(a); 0.3% Pacific Islander; 38% Asian American; 26.4% White; and 2.5% unknown.

Information is subject to change as the university may admit additional waitlisted students and verify that conditions of admission are met. Final enrollment data are expected to be available in January 2027.
