After Valve posted a hopeful, yet vague, update on its exciting new console, new leaks point to an official Steam Machine launch in late June.

The Steam Machine is set to blow the Steam Deck out of the water, as it should. It’s a standalone PC-like conglomerate of hardware meant to directly compete with consoles like the PS5 or Xbox series of devices. Steam has only given as much as a vague summer window for its launch, but if recent leaks are to be believed, that date is much closer than expected.

A post on Twitter/X by @HardwareSteam claims the Steam Machine will launch sometimes around June 23, though the source doesn’t seem confident the date is exact. There’s a grace period of about one day, so Valve’s PC/console could launch on June 22 or June 23, or “another day between June 22 and July 1.”

The post comes from someone claiming to be familiar with Valve’s review process, who claims the embargo lifts on June 23.

Valve has not officially announced the Steam Machine’s launch date, so take this with a grain of salt. The company has been cryptic about both it and the Steam Frame, and rightfully so considering it’s had to source hardware during an unfortunately unstable year, where memory prices have skyrocketed.

At one point, Valve didn’t seem entirely confident it could pull the entire thing off before the end of the year. Recent reports indicate that’s changed, and users might get a Steam console after all. That said, some are expecting the Steam Machine to cost a hefty sum. Initial estimates had it priced at nearly $800, but more recent reports claim it could be over $1,000.

We’ll know for sure if Valve does release the Steam Machine this month. If accurate, pre-orders could open by the end of June.
