For 10 years they vacationed together, spent holidays together, and turned up in each other’s work. This summer, when Taylor married Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden, Blake and Ryan Reynolds weren’t there.

The friendship began in 2015, when Blake Lively shut down feud rumors by joking that she owned a “Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife Voo Doo Doll” and signing off as “Blake Swift-Lively 4eva.” Two months later, the two were hanging out at a theme park in Australia.

Over the next decade, Ryan Reynolds joined Blake at Taylor’s Fourth of July and New Year’s parties, and the couple drew their kids into Taylor’s orbit. Taylor used baby James’ voice to open “Gorgeous,” named James and Inez in “Betty,” and thanked “Betty, James and Inez” from the Grammys stage when she won Album of the Year in 2021. That same year, Blake made her directorial debut on the “I Bet You Think About Me (Taylor’s Version)” video. In 2024, she wore red to the Super Bowl to cheer on Travis Kelce and the Chiefs.

In documents from Blake’s lawsuit against her “It Ends With Us” co-star Justin Baldoni, obtained by People, Blake wrote that she’d been “a bad friend lately” and “a sad sack who only talked about my own s**t for months.” Taylor replied less than an hour later that Blake was “not wrong, but it’s also not a big deal,” then got specific: “your last few… it’s felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees.” She closed with, “I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself… Just come back please.”

On July 2, Blake and Ryan were in Lake Placid, New York, cheering their daughter Betty at a horse show as wedding guests arrived in the city. They didn’t attend the July 3 ceremony at Madison Square Garden. Neither has publicly addressed where the friendship stands.
