The makers behind Married At First Sight Australia have apparently found a new expert to join the upcoming series following Mel Schilling's heartbreaking death.

According to reports by Australian website News24, Brigitte Zonta, also known as Dr Lurve, is set to be the new expert for the reality series. It comes after Mel Schilling died from colon cancer earlier this year.

Co-stars and fans were left devastated by the news, as Mel was beloved by viewers after appearing on both the Australian and UK versions.

While the production might be bringing on a new cast member since the loss of Mel, they have claimed her spirit is irreplaceable. Instead a spokesperson told Daily Mail they wish for Brigitte to bring something new to the series.

They said: "She brings her own voice, her own energy and her own way of connecting with people."

They also hope she will be able to cut through excuses if anyone isn't being true to themselves or their relationship. OK! has reached out for comment.

But who is Brigitte Zonta? Here's all we know so far about the reported new expert...

According to her own website, Brigitte Zonta is a relationship expert who has been assisting couples 'at every stage of their journey' since 2007. With more than 18 years of experience her bio claims that she is passionate about helping people build meaningful connections.

It also states that she believes everyone deserves the opportunity to experience lasting love. Her approach to her work is described as "warm, authentic, and practical". While her site states that she is based in Sydney, it does not actually specify what kind of work people can hire her for. There is just a contact form that people can fill in to request to work with her.

Since reports first broke that Brigitte could be joining up as a new MAFS Australia expert, her Instagram page has been set to private. This also includes her business account where she uses her alternate name, Dr Lurve, where she claims to be Australia's number one relationship expert.

Her social media bio now also states that she is 'currently travelling'. She has also featured on a number of podcasts as Dr Lurve, as well as hosting her own called Between The Sheets.

She has also worked for other brands including dating site eHarmony in Australia. She previously starred in a video for the company where she explained the difference between yellow and amber flags while dating.

Fans will have to wait and see if she has actually been signed up for the show and if so what she will bring to proceedings.
