Everyone dreams of enjoying a celebrity-worthy holiday at least once in their life - and it turns out it's far more attainable than you might imagine.
While A-listers are often spotted in destinations such as St Barts, The Hamptons and Aspen, many have also been escaping to a hidden gem that's just a two-hour flight from the UK.
Lake Garda, in northern Italy, sits between Brescia and Milan to the west, and Verona and Venice to the east.
Despite being Italy's largest lake, it can be surprisingly peaceful to visit in late June, ahead of the UK school summer holidays.
There are no overcrowded beaches or long queues for restaurants, making it the perfect destination for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Celebrities including Tom Cruise, Drew Barrymore, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Irina Shayk, and David and Victoria Beckham have all holidayed around the lake, drawn by its breathtaking scenery, warm climate and slower pace of life.
Many A-listers are said to favour Lake Garda over nearby Lake Como, as it's generally quieter and allows them to enjoy a more private holiday away from paparazzi and crowds of fans.
Even Winston Churchill was captivated by the area.
The former Prime Minister visited Lake Garda in July 1949 after the Second World War, staying with his wife, Clementine, at the Grand Hotel Gardone in Gardone Riviera.
During his stay, he spent his time painting the landscape, fishing and continuing work on his war memoirs.
Churchill reportedly described Lake Garda as "the most beautiful place I have ever seen."
For travellers able to visit outside the school summer holidays, four-star hotels typically cost between £130 and £310 per night, depending on where you stay around the lake.
Eating out is also surprisingly affordable. Even Michelin-recommended restaurants often serve main courses for around £17, making fine dining far more accessible than many visitors might expect.
There are plenty of free ways to enjoy the lake too, from swimming in its charming water and relaxing on its pebbly beaches to visiting the only sandy beach on the western shore at Toscolano Maderno.
For those happy to spend a little more, boat trips, shopping and lakeside restaurants offer plenty to fill a long weekend without breaking the bank.
One of the area's biggest attractions is the Strada della Forra, a dramatic mountain road that Winston Churchill famously described as the "eighth wonder of the world."
Many people will recognise it from the opening car chase in the 2008 James Bond film Quantum of Solace, where Daniel Craig's 007 races through its narrow tunnels and dramatic cliffside bends while evading pursuing villains.
At the top of the road lies Tremosine sul Garda, a collection of villages officially recognised as one of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages.
Made up of 18 hamlets, the villages have retained their traditional stone architecture and slower pace of life, with just over 2,000 people living there.
Lake Garda might not be the first destination that comes to mind when you think of celebrity holidays, but that could be exactly why so many famous faces have chosen to return over the years.
