Netflix reality series promises an inside look at Alix Earle and her 'insane' family
A new unfiltered reality series from Netflix will uncover every side behind the life of one of the world's biggest social media stars.
Earle Meets World is landing on the streaming service next month and will follow Alix Earle and her family. Alix is described as Gen-Z’s ultimate It Girl.
The series marks the next big and possibly most significant jump in her career. According to the synopsis, viewers will be invited to see if she can balance her burgeoning business empire with being that unfiltered, twenty-something, hot mess that America fell in love with.
Now her own brand of candid chaos is making the transition from social feeds to your Netflix watchlist and promises that nothing is off limits.
With nearly 6 million followers on Instagram alone, Alix rose to popularity after beginning to post 'Get Ready With Me' style videos on TikTok. During those, the 25-year-old regularly shared details of her personal life as well.
While she was a college student at the University of Miami when she started these videos, over the years, Alix has managed to grow a global brand "on the power of authenticity".
This has seemingly proven to be a jumping off point for the series. She explained: “My relationship with my followers has always felt really personal because I’ve been sharing my life the same way I would with my best friends With this show, I want it to feel like you’re even more in it with me, in a way that’s real and not curated.”
There is expected to be eight episodes of Earle Meets World, dropping on September 4. Alix has admitted to some nerves as it should include moments she usually would not share with her followers.
Speaking to Netflix's Tudum website, she confessed: “I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a little scary. I’m so used to being in control of what I share and what I keep private, so having cameras around in moments I normally wouldn’t post is definitely an adjustment. But the real, human moments are what connected me to my audience in the first place. If letting people in even more makes someone feel less alone — or even just makes them laugh — then it’s worth it.”
However, Earle Meets World will not just follow Alix but her whole extended family. The confirmed cast includes her dad, TJ, and his wife, Ashley, plus their children, Izabel, Penelope, and Thomas. Then there’s Alix’s mom, Alisa, and her boyfriend, Todd — and, of course, her sister and fellow influencer Ashtin. Rounding out the line-up is Sally, Alix’s ride-or-die best friend since childhood.
The Earle family should add an extra dimension to to the series as Alix said: "We’re a fun, modern family, and people either think we’re insane or they’re like, ‘Wait, this is exactly like my life’ — and honestly, both are true.
“The goal is not to be someone different on camera. It’s to show more of who I already am and who my family really is. The fun, the messy, the growth, while capturing the way we help each other through it all.”
