So, why didn't the RAF actually buy the Voyager tanker aircraft outright, instead of the agreement that they have with the private company known as Air Tanker, and the lack of a boom equipped tanker to support their C-17s, P-8s, their incoming E-7s, and forthcoming F-35As, is a very serious capability gap, which will be further strained once the RAF version of the future GCAP fighter enters service, and why doesn't the RAF dedicate some tanker sorties to support flight testing?
