Seven people, including three children, were killed Monday on a Russia beach after a Ukrainian drone reportedly went off course and crashed onto a beach close to Vladimir Putin’s secret $1 billion palace.

Shocking video shows the small, plane-shaped object plummet from the sky and hit the ground in a fiery explosion at the Black Sea resort city of Gelendzhik, in Krasnodar Oblast.

At least seven people, three of them children, are believed to have died, according to local authorities, as reported by the BBC’s Ukrainian language news service.

A further 40 people were reported to have been injured, including children, with 21 of the wounded being rushed to nearby hospitals, according to the Krasnodar Region Operations Headquarters.

The beach was packed with vacationers at the time.

Russian authorities claimed the victims were killed by falling debris from the drone, accusing Ukraine of attacking “civilian infrastructure, according to Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.

However, several local media outlets reported that the unmanned aircraft crashed after it was jammed and shot down by Russian air defenses.

“It would be strange to see such an aerial tumble during a standard operation based on faulty coordinates,” Kirill Mikhailov, a Russian military analyst, told Agentstvo, per The Times.

Gelendzhik, roughly 250 to 300 miles from the Ukrainian border, is also home to an expansive palace belonging to Putin.

The Russian tyrant reportedly spent the equivalent of $956 million to complete his private resort in 2022, according to an investigation and documentary from the late opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

The beach is also located next to a branch of one of Russia’s key rocket and space production companies, the NVO Machine-Building Company, according to a report in the publication “Agency.”

Ukraine is yet to comment on the incident, and has not said what the drone’s target was.
