NORWALK — A three-alarm fire at a residence that is under renovation was quickly put out by firefighters on Saturday night, an official said. 

The one-and-a-half story home in the 100 block of Stuart Avenue in Norwalk was put out in about 20 minutes, and nobody was inside it, said Norwalk Deputy Fire Chief Adam Markowitz.

Authorities got numerous calls reporting the blaze and crews responded at 10:14 p.m., Markowitz said. Firefighters located a heavy blaze on both floors at the rear of the residence on arrival, he said. The fire also spread to a detached garage and began to melt a neighbor’s siding, Markowitz added. 

“Hand lines were stretched to both floors of the residence as well as to the exterior of the structure,” Markowitz said. “Primary and secondary searches were conducted while the building was horizontally and vertically ventilated and the power secured.”

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze, that resulted in no injuries, Markowitz said.
