The BYD Qin Max mid-size electric sedan reached dealers ahead of the sales launch. Photos of the car in a showroom were shared by the brand’s general manager. The Qin Max will enter the domestic market on August 13, offering BEV and PHEV powertrain variants.
The BYD Qin Max sedan was first exposed by the governmental regulator during the domestic homologation process. BYD launched its marketing campaign in July, revealing official images and the interior. On July 31, Lu Tian, general manager of the sales division of BYD’s Dynasty Network, shared photos of the plug-in hybrid Qin Max DM-i at the dealership.

The new BYD-branded model started to arrive at showrooms across China for display, covered in gray. The Qin Max adopts BYD’s DiPilot 300 (“God’s Eye B”) assisted driving system with a LiDAR sensor on the roof and signature blue lights that are going to be banned in China. Other features of the car’s exterior include sharp headlights, a chrome-plated “Dragon Whiskers” element, semi-hidden door handles, 18-inch wheels, and a single taillight unit.

The BYD Qin Max is a mid-size sedan with dimensions of 4866/1880/1495 mm and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. For clarity, this electric car is 73 mm longer, 60 mm wider, and 58 mm higher than the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The Qin Max’s cabin offers a floating touchscreen and an LCD instrument cluster in the dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel with a gear shifter mounted behind it, and a wireless phone charging pad in the center tunnel. The vehicle is compatible with a BYD Smart Button accessory.

The all-electric BYD Qin Max comes standard with a single electric motor for 120 kW (161 hp). It is powered by a 52.868 kWh LFP battery from BYD subsidiary FinDreams. This sedan can run up to 530 km on a single charge under CLTC conditions. A more expensive variant of the Qin Max will offer a 240 kW (322 hp) e-motor paired with a 64.315 kWh pack for 630 km CLTC. The BYD Qin Max EV will support flash-charging technology, capable of charging from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
The plug-in hybrid Qin Max DM-i is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine for 74 kW (99 hp). The electric motor provides a peak power of 175 kW (235 hp). It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. More on the BYD Qin Max as we get it.
BYD currently sells two Qin-series models in China: the Qin Plus and the Qin L. According to China EV DataTracker, the world’s biggest automaker delivered 68,369 units of the Qin Plus domestically in H1 2026, down 58.2% Year-Over-Year. The Qin L’s sales volume reached 53,704 units in China in the same period, down 60.2% Y-O-Y.
