America's Got Talent competitor Jourdan Blue was taken into custody on Saturday in Louisiana in connection with multiple charges - including suspicion of driving while intoxicated.   

The singer-songwriter, 24, was arrested by Louisiana State Police in connection with first offense DWI, driving under suspension, careless operation and open container, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office told the Daily Mail. 

Blue was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, police told the Daily Mail, and released later Saturday. 

Blue, nicknamed the 'Bourbon Street Soul Singer,' was a fan favorite on the series. In one episode, Howie Mandel awarded the soulful crooner a Golden Buzzer honor after delivering a rousing rendition of Breakeven by The Script.

Blue appeared on the NBC variety series last year for its 20th season, and came in third place.

Daily Mail has reached out to Blue for further comment on the story. 

Blue has a strong following on TikTok, as he has 864,600 followers, with his account having garnered more than 3.4 million likes.

He told People last year that the social media platform - on which he frequently shares his musical performances - has been key to his growth as a performer.

'I realized that on TikTok,' Blue said, 'I could reach thousands of people I'd never meet in person.

'It helped me refine my craft, build confidence, and connect with an audience in ways I hadn't imagined.'

Blue said that he particularly sharpened his skills, and grew a fanbase, by livestreaming his performances on the platform.

'I started going live, and that really became my thing,' Blue said. 'At first, it wasn’t about building a brand - I just wanted to get better at my craft, practice, and get new song requests.

'Slowly, I started building a room of people who were there consistently.'

In the interview with the magazine, Blue alluded to past issues with substance abuse, which he said left him homeless at one point.

Blue said he almost died of a drug overdose during a timeframe he 'was in a really dark place and made some bad decisions.

'I ended up overdosing,' he said. 'The people around me got scared and left. The next day, some of them came back and said, "Jourdan, you were dead." It was a miracle.'

The near-fatal experience 'put everything into perspective,' Blue said - and led him to cease using drugs.

'It wasn't intentional, but I realized my whole life could have been gone from one dumb decision,' Blue said. 'I quit cold turkey - stopped everything. It was hard, but the reward was so much bigger than the struggle.'

Blue, who is father to a son named Jax, said that he hopes to pass on his musical passions, and the life lessons they impart, on his child.

'Performing on that stage isn't just about me; it's about showing my son that no matter how dark or dangerous things get, you can come through it and create something beautiful,' said Blue. 'That's the message I hope he carries with him, and the one I'm living every day.'
