Nobody likes waiting on hold with the annoying and repetitive hold music, but fortunately the iPhone has a wonderful solution to being stuck on hold, called Hold Assist.
With Hold Assist, you don’t need to wait on a call hold, because your iPhone will wait on hold for you. How this works it quite simple; when Hold Assist is activated, the iPhone monitors the call, and then alerts you when a live person has returned to the call, so that you can pickup and rejoin the call. It’s super easy and works quite well. Let’s walk through the exact steps so you can utilize this fantastic feature.

The Hold Assist feature is really seamless and works great. You’ll even see a little live transcript of anything the person or agent on the held call is saying, so you can make sure you’re not missing anything.
This is one of those super convenient features that you’ll be glad to memorize, and to utilize the next time you’re stuck waiting on hold for a gazillion years to check on your insurance, tax stuff, or whatever else tends to take a lifetime of being on hold.
You will need iOS 26 or newer to have access to this feature on your iPhone, as earlier system software versions do not support the capability.
