A Houthi attack targeting several military positions in Yemen's Hadramout and Marib provinces killed 45 government forces and wounded around 80 others, according to sources cited by Al Arabiya and Al Hadath.

Yemeni emergency forces said the Houthis launched ballistic missiles and drones at a number of army camps and units, including positions belonging to the emergency forces.

Yemeni sources said around 80 wounded government personnel were being treated at hospitals in Marib and Seiyun. Military sources also reported casualties following attacks in the Al-Abr area of Hadramout and the Al-Ruwaik area of Marib. Witnesses reported that the Houthis launched eight missiles from the Al-Mahzamat mountains in Al-Jawf province.

The leadership of the First Emergency Division said the attack struck several army camps and units, including emergency-force positions, causing casualties and material damage. It said the assault followed what it described as recent security and military successes by government forces in securing areas and international roads and pursuing smuggling gangs, bandits, and criminal cells.

The US Embassy in Yemen condemned what it called Houthi terrorism against the Yemeni people, saying the attacks on government forces demonstrated the group's alleged terrorist nature.

In a statement, the Houthi Armed Forces claimed responsibility for a "large-scale and precise military operation" targeting Saudi troop concentrations in Al-Ruwaik, Al-Abr, and Al-Thaniyah, as well as camps belonging to the so-called First and Third Emergency Divisions. The statement said the operation used ballistic missiles and drones.

The Houthis claimed the strikes killed or wounded hundreds of Saudi personnel and destroyed and burned a number of camps, troop concentrations, depots, and weapons in the Al-Wadi'ah area in eastern Yemen. They also claimed that numerous military vehicles at the targeted camps were destroyed.

The Houthi statement warned against further Saudi military action and said the group would continue what it called a "siege for siege" policy until the siege on Yemen is lifted.

The conflict between Yemen's government forces and the Houthis began in August 2014. Large-scale fighting largely halted following a UN-brokered ceasefire in 2022, although armed clashes have continued to occur periodically in several areas.
