PRAGUE, August 7. /TASS/. Slovakia has registered a temperature record for Central Europe after the mercury rose to 42.2 degrees Celsius, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute said on X.

"Slovakia’s new temperature record is also the highest ever documented in Central Europe. Yesterday, Slovakia measured the previously unimaginable temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius," the meteorologists said.

The temperature reached 42.2 degrees Celsius on Thursday in the village of Dolne Plachtince in southern Slovakia. The country set temperature records for the second consecutive day. On Wednesday, a weather station in the southern Slovak town of recorded a temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius.
