HIGHS

Tunnel-vision-producing acceleration, the most exotic-looking exotic sports car, premium cabin.

LOWS

You better like getting stared at, but other than that, it's all highs.

VERDICT

Few other cars feel as special as a Lamborghini, and the Revuelto is the most special Lambo of them all.

By Drew Dorian
Overview

The 2027 Lamborghini Revuelto takes the idea of hybrid motoring and flips it on its head, with a powertrain that combines the brand's signature V-12 engine with three electric motors for a combined 1001 horsepower. Forget fuel economy: With all those ponies galloping at full tilt, this hybrid's acceleration will cause tunnel vision, though the Revuelto can calm down enough for highway cruising as well as low-speed city commutes.

The two-seat cabin is decked out in Lamborghini's finest wares, and the seats are well bolstered for spirited cornering. The interior is a chore to get in and out of, but opening the scissor doors adds drama to the process. The Revuelto is an in-your-face land-bound spaceship, so it's not a good choice for ultra-wealthy introverts; crowds will suddenly appear every time you stop. But if you have the scratch, and you're up for thrilling the throngs at cars and coffees, this is the car you want to drive.

Expert Tip: The smaller Lambo Temerario sports car is less expensive, but no less exotic-looking or outrageous to drive. It's even clocked better performance than the Revuelto at our test track.

What's New for 2027?

A limited-edition Revuelto Miura 60° Homage model joins the lineup, paying tribute to—you guessed it—the legendary Lamborghini Miura sports car from the 1960s. Only 99 will be made, and all of them will feature lower body panels painted in a contrasting color to the rest of the body. The colors offered are all inspired by those offered on the Miura. Unique wheels are also part of the Homage look, as is a special rear Lamborghini script in gloss black. The interior will wear leather upholstery on the seats embroidered with the Miura's cannelloni pattern; a carbon-fiber plaque inside indicates that the car is one of only 99 made.

Pricing and Which One to BuyEngine, Transmission, and Performance
  • Hybrid Powertrain: 6.5-liter V-12 and three electric motors, 1001 hp combined
  • Transmission: 8-speed dual-clutch automatic
  • Drivetrain: all-wheel drive

This bull is no ballerina when it comes to performance. The mid-mounted 814-hp 6.5-liter V-12 is naturally aspirated and screams up to a 9500-rpm redline. Of the three electric motors integrated into the powertrain, two drive the front wheels, while the third is integrated into the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and assists the V-12 gas engine on the rear axle. The total output of this powertrain is 1001 horsepower, the most of any Lamborghini ever.

From behind the wheel, the Revuelto's acceleration is mind-bendingly intense, with the electric motors providing an instant surge of power off the line and the V-12 howling as you explore the upper reaches of its power band. Handling is sharper and more agile than in the outgoing Aventador, and the ride is remarkably civil if you put the car in Soft mode. The Revuelto benefits from rear-wheel steering and a torque-vectoring system, which gives it more stability in corners and makes it easier to nip apexes.

0–60-MPH Times

In Comparison: The Revuelto tied the 1064-hp Corvette ZR1 with its 2.2-second 60 mph time, but the Chevy costs a third of the Lamborghini's price. Want to go quicker? A pair of electric hot rods, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach and the Lucid Air Sapphire, shade both the Lambo and Vette with 1.9-second 60-mph times. Then there's the Corvette ZR1X, which did the 60-mph rhumba in an incredible 1.8 seconds—the quickest 60-mph time we've ever recorded in our testing.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life
  • EPA EV Range: 5 miles

The Revuelto is a plug-in hybrid, but not in the traditional sense of the term. This is no Prius competitor, out to hypermile its way from point A to point B. Its 3.8-kWh battery pack, nestled in the space between the two bucket seats, provides just enough juice to power the Revuelto for about 5 miles on electric power alone.

That's enough to slip away unnoticed from your neighborhood should you need to leave early on a Saturday morning without waking the neighbors, but not enough to avoid using lots of gasoline on just about every drive. The Revuelto is a performance hybrid, using the electricity in its battery—and the three electric motors it powers—to add a bolt of lightning to the powertrain's output.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
  • EPA City Rating: 10 mpg
  • EPA Highway Rating: 17 mpg

Proof that the Revuelto was never intended to stretch fuel is there in its EPA numbers. The EPA estimates that the Revuelto will deliver just 10 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 12 mpg combined.

Keep in mind that these EPA estimates are based on conservative driving, which runs counter to everything Lamborghini. On a funnier side note, it's the only plug-in hybrid that is penalized with the full gas guzzler tax. For more information about the Revuelto's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.

In Comparison: The Revuelto's fuel economy ratings are comparable to the 6000-pound, 720-hp Ford F-150 Raptor R pickup truck.

Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

First Row: There are only two seats in the Revuelto because, well, Lamborghini put 12 cylinders where the back seats would normally go. The Revuelto is no ordinary car. Its cockpit is more space race than automobile. Four rotary knobs on the steering wheel control drive modes, and additional buttons activate the turn signals as well as initiate the launch control.

Cargo Capacity: There's space behind the seats to fit a single golf bag, as well as front trunk space that can accommodate a carry-on suitcase.

Infotainment and Connectivity
  • Infotainment: 8.4-inch touchscreen, 9.1-inch passenger's screen
  • Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Audio System: 4-speaker stereo (standard), 7-speaker Sonus Faber stereo (optional)

The Revuelto is unlike other Lambos in that much of its interface is digital. An 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen handles much of the vehicle's controls, including climate functions, but there's also a 9.1-inch screen on the passenger-side dash that displays everything that encourages motion sickness, such as speed, drive gear, and torque distribution. A third 12.3-inch display handles gauge-cluster duties for the driver. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Compared to other modern cars, the Revuelto doesn't offer many driver-assistance features.

  • Standard Safety Features: lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist
  • Optional Safety Features: automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control

For information about the Revuelto's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.

Warranty and Maintenance Coverage

Compared with most mainstream automakers, Lamborghini doesn't provide stellar warranty coverage. But its protection plans are competitive with those of high-end rivals such as Ferrari and can be enhanced by optional extended warranty coverage. A five-year complimentary scheduled maintenance plan is now standard.

  • Limited Warranty: three years and unlimited miles
  • Powertrain Warranty: three years and unlimited miles
  • Complimentary Maintenance: five years
