Move over Hollywood, New York City is showing it’s no slouch in the world of television, as evidenced by 72 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations for productions filmed in the Empire State. As you look for shows to binge after the Emmys air on Sept. 14, here are some of the shows that were filmed in New York.

The Chair Company

2 Emmy nominations

While the show starring Tim Robinson takes place in Columbus, Ohio, much of the filming was done in New York City. Most of the interior shots were filmed at Broadway Stages’ Soundstage 23 in Brooklyn.

The Diplomat

7 Emmy nominations

All of the interior scenes for the latest season set in Washington, D.C., were actually filmed in New York. To mimic the Blair House, which is the president’s guest house, the production designers chose to shoot at the de Seversky Mansion on Long Island and at the library at the Lotus Club in Manhattan.

Only Murders in the Building

5 Emmy nominations

It would be a tragedy if a show that takes place on the Upper West Side was filmed in Washington, D.C. Fortunately, this show stays true to its artistic integrity. The exterior shots of the luxurious apartment building depicted in the show are actually of The Belnord on the Upper West Side.

Poker Face

1 Emmy nomination

This show might involve a different murder case in each episode, but the majority of the shots were sourced in the Empire State. The first season of the show was largely filmed within a 40-mile radius in the Hudson Valley. Season two was a mix of New York soundstages, rural places in New York and other locations across the country.

Black Rabbit

The New York City restaurant and VIP lounge in the show might not be real but many of the shots of the city definitely are. From Coney Island to lower Manhattan to the East Village, the showrunners captured the beauty of New York.

SubwayTakes with Kareem Rahma

1 Emmy nomination

Kareem Rahma has come a long way in building his popular vertical video series. He has interviewed many famous (and not so famous) people on the New York City subways and now has been nominated for an Emmy. But his show will always be synonymous with the MetroCard and New York City, even though he has had some international episodes as well.
