Sutton: 'They have underperformed because of Ronaldo'

Goncalo Ramos played in the last 16 at the last World Cup and scored a hat-trick when the manager did have a bit of courage to leave Cristiano Ronaldo out.We're four years further on, Ronaldo is four years older and look what's happened.
They have underperformed because of him.

It wasn't a great game, but had plenty of narratives and a really exciting ending - so well worth it, I think!
Coming up tonight
The quarter finals are starting to take shape, and last 16 action continue tonight as the United States take on Belgium for a spot in the last eight.
This game has been littered in controversy, with Folarin Balogun allowed to play after president Donald Trump made a call to Gianni Infantino and FIFA.

White: 'You can see the disappointment'

You have to feel the emotion for Ronaldo with what he has done for Portugal.Could he be back in four years at 45? You never know but I think it's potentially his last one.
You can see the disappointment in his face. They just didn't do enough in the game and he didn't get enough opportunities. Maybe there are questions as to whether Ramos should have come on because he made a huge difference in the previous game.
Piers waves goodbye
Ronaldo's biggest fan and, of course, his best bud, Piers Morgan, has said goodbye to Ronaldo as his World Cup career comes to an end.

Spain weren't as fluid as they would like to be but it's all about getting the job done in knockout football. Portugal go out with a whimper.How did Goncalo Ramos not get on the pitch?
It's an absolute embarrassment from the manager, just pandering to his star player, the most decorated player that Portugal have ever had but you've got to be stronger than that.
Portugal are out because of Roberto Martinez.
