Can Content Center Families Support Selectable Finishes During Placement?

I am currently investigating how to add a finish/coating selection to the standard bolts, nuts, and washers available in the Content Center.My approach so far has been:Create a custom library and copy the required families from the standard library.Generate a custom part from the library family.Add a finish feature to the custom part.Replace the family template with the modified part.At this point, I am stuck.Is there a way to make the finish/coating options available directly in the Place from Content Center dialog so that users can select the required finish when placing a component?As a workaround, I currently see two options:Create a separate custom iProperty that stores the coating specification.Include the coating specification in the material name.Has anyone implemented a similar solution or found a better way to expose finish selections through the Content Center?
