But culinary games aside, I am curious: how are you stomaching the new, heavily sanitized reality of The Duran? I see you are still out there publishing, seemingly unbothered by the fact that the management has padlocked the main tavern and boarded up the windows. Does this censorship actually suit you? Does scribbling your thoughts in these dark, isolated corners make you feel like Antonio Gramsci composing his Prison Notebooks in a fascist cell?
I have to admit, it stings a little to see you so docile. I expected the man who dismisses formal logic with a wave of his hand to at least rebel against a corporate muzzle.
You once channeled the raw grit of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Tell me, are you aiming for the ending of that movie? Because right now, you look a lot like old Howard, sitting in the dirt and laughing while the wind blows all the gold dust they bled for straight into the ether. Is that your endgame? To sit in the dark, twiddle your thumbs, and chuckle at the cosmic absurdity while the bouncers sweep our entire intellectual capital out the back door?
If you ever get tired of playing solitary language games in the dark, some of us are breaking the locks and opening an underground Speakeasy. You know exactly where to find the monument to the genesis of cognitive warfare.
