The truck's thorough overhaul includes styling updates, cab changes, and revised powertrains — plus Z71 becoming its own trim

The styling changes look good in person, particularly in burly ZR2 guise, with amber marker lights added to its grille and aggressive front bumper cutouts for off-road fun, the latter to the point that its block-heater connector had to be relocated. The word ‘Chevrolet’ is hammered into the front of that black panel on the hood, at least on this ZR2, while some subtle differences in camera placement are likely to further improve Chevy’s standing as a leader in around-truck viewing angles. That stuff matters when towing or going off-road.

Around the back, it’s worth noting the area above its rear window now houses not just the high-mount stop lamp (CHMSL) and various cameras, but is now also home to all antennae, meaning there are no longer any shark fins or metal whips protruding from this truck. An uninterrupted roof will help buyers planning on building these things into overlanding rigs.

This ZR2 was equipped with a MultiFlex tailgate, which now sprouts two new tie-down rings, rated at 250 pounds and well-placed to help secure gear in the bed. General Motors is frankly one of the best for cargo management, and this extends that prowess even further.

That big “ZR2” badge on the bed flank is an actual badge, not a sticker, which does look a lot more premium when viewed by human eyes, even if it doesn’t really come across in these photos. Your author enjoys the continued trend of square quad exhaust tips, sprouting from under the rear bumper. We’ll surely have more thoughts when we get behind the wheel for a first drive later in the year.

Canadian pricing was also revealed, starting at $52,999 for a Work Truck trim. Chevy was quick to point out numerous new standard features for 2027, helping explain any price walk one might find whilst comparing this year to last. Chief in this writer’s mind is the fact that WT and Custom trims no longer get the shaft with an ‘old’ interior, and now share items like an 11.6-inch driver information centre and 16.3-inch infotainment screen with all other trims. That alone, and the fact that engine specifications have improved for this year, are key considerations when making any comparison to a 2026 model.

Also fresh across the board are standard driving helpers like lane-keeping and adaptive cruise control.

The popular Custom and Custom Trail Boss now start at $58,499 and $67,199, respectively. It’s our understanding the Custom will exclusively feature the 2.7L TurboMax, an engine which now has 355 hp and a ten-speed automatic to put its 455 lb-ft of torque to work. Meanwhile, folks will be able to get a Custom Trail Boss with either the 2.7L turbo, new 5.7 V8, or 3.0L diesel. Assuming the updated mills drive as good as the new spec sheets suggest, a Custom Trail Boss in Red Hot with a bench seat and standard 34-inch tires powered by the V8 could be the pick of this litter. A trailer brake controller is standard now, too.

A key difference over ’26 is the jettisoning of LT and RST trims in favour of a Z71 trim starting at $63,199. That designation used to be an optional package, but now seeks to capture broad appeal between the Custom and High Country, which is a very wide spread, suggesting the options list on a Z71 will be extensive. We look forward to spending time on the configurator when it goes live.

A full-fat Trail Boss – now with 34-inch tires, bucket seats, Bose audio, and more driving aids as standard – summons at least $76,699 from one’s bank account. The aforementioned High Country, recently said to be re-positioned even further upmarket in terms of aspiration, now starts at $94,399 and comes with the likes of Super Cruise, heads-up display, and 22-inch wheels as standard.

Atop the heap in terms of base price is a $98,699 ZR2 with its expensive (and tremendous) DSSV dampers, plus tires that grow to 35-inchers. Bose stereo and massaging seats also find their way onto the standard equipment list.

These trucks are scheduled to arrive in Chevrolet dealers in Canada later this year.
