The top six in the Varsity Maine field hockey poll remains unchanged from last week, the first rankings of the 2026 fall season. Cheverus remains the unbeaten and unanimous No. 1. Skowhegan is still second, followed by Biddeford, Mt. Ararat, Belfast and then Yarmouth.

Messalonskee’s 3-0 start has earned it a jump from 10th to seventh. Sanford/Kennebunk, which has outscored its opponents 18-1 in three games since its season-opening double-overtime loss to Biddeford, is ranked eighth.

The other three teams in the poll — Nokomis, Camden Hills and Freeport — were unranked last week. All three squads are off to unbeaten starts.

The Varsity Maine field hockey poll is based on games played before Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026. The top 10 teams are voted on by the Varsity Maine staff, with first-place votes in parentheses, followed by total points.
