India to add about 8 GW wind energy capacity in FY27: MNRE

India plans to increase its wind energy capacity by 7.5 to 8 GW in the current fiscal year. The country had already achieved over 6 GW of capacity addition in 2025-26, indicating positive sector growth. Investment considerations show that this capacity increase will require around ₹50 crore annually. Partnerships with European companies are anticipated to enhance offshore wind development and technology transfer.
