Northeast winds behind the recent cold front will keep the area cooler and drier through the weekend, giving us another early taste of fall.
Humidity will remain low, especially Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Because of the dry conditions, there could be an increased risk of fires if outdoor burning or other sources of ignition are present.
Weekend Weather
Cooler and drier air is continuing to move into the area from the northeast behind the cold front. This pattern will remain in place through the weekend, keeping temperatures noticeably lower than they have been recently.
Afternoon highs will generally be in the low to mid 80s, while overnight temperatures will fall into the 50s and 60s. The combination of cooler temperatures, lower humidity and northeast breezes should make for a much more comfortable weekend.
Warmer and More Humid Next Week
The weather pattern will begin to change early next week as winds gradually shift from northerly to northwesterly. By Tuesday, high pressure will begin building east of Florida, allowing winds to turn more southerly.
That southerly flow will bring moisture back from the Gulf of Mexico. Humidity will gradually increase, and rain chances will begin to return. By Thursday, the chances for showers and thunderstorms will become more noticeable.
Temperatures will also warm back up. By the end of next week, afternoon highs should return to the upper 80s and lower 90s, with overnight lows climbing back into the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Gulf and Bay Waters
Northerly winds will remain light to moderate through Saturday before shifting more westerly Sunday as high pressure settles over the northeastern Gulf.
Boating conditions should remain relatively favorable, with wave heights generally 2 feet or less through the weekend and into the first half of next week.
