Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has started removing videos and posts relating to leaked content from GTA 5 and GTA 6.

The material, which appeared last week, was said to have been acquired as a result of the 2022 hack which also led to the first leak of GTA 6 footage. The files contain cut dialogue from GTA 5, information about a Liberty City expansion for GTA 5 that was abandoned, and an extremely early version of the GTA 6 map. Since the material was obtained illegally rather than officially released, Take-Two is carrying out efforts to have it removed.

The people who post the material seem to be in danger of receiving copyright notices.

Last week a great many GTA 5 files were leaked onto the internet. These files were allegedly secured as a result of the 2022 hack, the same hack that led to the first leak of GTA 6 footage. Although the files have long been rumored they are only just becoming publicly available.

The material consists of dialogue excerpts from GTA 5 which appear to suggest various possible story endings, for example a more sinister ending for Franklin.

The two most significant items are information about a Liberty City expansion for GTA 5 that was abandoned and an extremely early version of the map for GTA 6.

Since the material was obtained illegally through a hack rather than being officially released by Rockstar or extracted from the game's files, Take-Two is taking steps to have the assets removed from the internet.

Videos and posts on various YouTube channels featuring visuals of the leaked material or clips from the audio have already been taken down. The company does not seem to be acting as aggressively as it did in the case of the original GTA 6 leaks, but those who post the material could still receive copyright strikes.

The release of GTA 6 is due in about two months, and Rockstar's security is probably at its peak since it has been breached by a number of leaks in the last four years.

As the game is most likely now complete, it may be vulnerable to spoilers, although the fact that there are no physical copies will make it more difficult for information to leak before the game is released. Considering the amount of footage that came to light in August, further leaks are by no means impossible.

The authenticity and source of the leaked material depend on the reports linking it to the 2022 hack rather than on any confirmation from Rockstar. Take-Two has not made a detailed public statement regarding the takedowns, and it has not been confirmed how extensively the company will carry out removals or copyright claims against creators. GTA 6 is still scheduled for release in November.
