After recently foraying into multihulls, Oyster Yachts has returned to monohulls.

The British yard, which revealed its first catamaran at the Cannes Yachting Festival in early September, today unveiled a new flagship sailing superyacht that combines elegant design and meticulous craftsmanship with bluewater cruising capability. The new Oyster 36M is proof that monohulls will remain at the center of the lineup well into the future.

“The introduction of a new Oyster flagship is a profound decision for our company,” the company’s CEO Stefan Zimmermann Zschocke said in a statement. “The Oyster 36M proudly signifies a new generation of Oyster yachts and will lead our fleet into the future.”

Created in collaboration with Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering, the 118-footer can be customized to the owner’s tastes. The underlying architecture and engineering remain defined, but the interior layout, cabin arrangement, and styling can be personalized. Tweaks can also be made to the deck hardware, sail plans, keel, and anchor options, as well as the sports and adventure equipment. That means each unit will be unique, offering a level of individuality almost on par with bespoke cruisers.

Frers, known for creating high-performance racing and cruising sailboats, combined Oyster’s signature design DNA with proven naval architecture. The hull was engineered specifically for long-distance sailing, with a deep-V bow and wide stern that ensure comfort, speed, and stability. The yacht also comes with large tank capacities, space for spares and equipment, accessible systems, and a large garage, allowing seafarers to spend more time away from the shore.

The living quarters are also designed for extended stays at sea. The open-plan layout connects the main living areas to three, four, or five cabins, creating a natural flow throughout. At the center lies a luxurious panoramic salon with 360-degree views and a sliding glass partition that opens to the expansive aft cockpit. Further down lies the beach club with a platform, or what Oyster calls an “island,” which can be lowered to the sea or raised to create a terrace over the water. A side platform can also be added for boarding. At the opposite end sits a forward retreat that can be outfitted with a Jacuzzi if desired.

“For us, the Oyster 36M is a defining project,” adds Mani Frers of Frers Naval Architecture & Engineering. “We believe she will change what owners expect from a bluewater sailing superyacht at this size.”
