MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Pierre de Gaulle, grandson of French President General Charles de Gaulle, said he would like to become a Russian citizen and even live in the country with his family, but knows that only Vladimir Putin can make that happen.

Pierre de Gaulle heads the Foundation for Peace and Friendship Among Peoples, which he also founded.

"That is your president’s decision. When the time comes, perhaps such a decision will be made. I would very much like that," he told TASS following the 12th St. Petersburg International United Cultures Forum.

Pierre de Gaulle said he dreams of settling in Russia with his family and children and is working to strengthen ties between Paris and Moscow. "We are doing everything we can to build bridges. It would be an honor for us to receive Russian citizenship, but it is a long, very long process. It'll happen when it happens," he added.

Pierre de Gaulle is a French public figure and financier, president of the de Gaulle Foundation and grandson of Charles de Gaulle, the first president of France’s Fifth Republic. Born in 1963, he is the fourth son of Admiral Philippe de Gaulle. Pierre de Gaulle and his wife, Rima, are raising their children and see Russia as a great place to bring up a family, away from degrading Western values.
