BEIJING, September 28. /TASS/. China is being guided by national interests and considerations of global stability while building up its defense capabilities, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said
"China always strengthens its defense capabilities based on its own needs and makes efforts to maintain global peace and stability," he told a briefing, commenting on reports that US President Donald Trump has recently asked his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, if Beijing could buy weapons from the United States.
US Ambassador to China David Perdue told Fox News on September 27 that Trump "asked President Xi, would he like to buy some (of US-made weapons - TASS), at one point."
