Segro will this week flesh out plans to develop data centres for the AI revolution as it steps up its fight against a US predator.

The FTSE 100 warehouse giant will set out its case to remain independent after rejecting a £12.6bn bid from San Francisco-based Prologis. Segro will put expansion into data centres at the heart of its growth plans as it looks to capitalise on demand for the infrastructure behind the AI boom.

It will tackle what bosses see as ‘misrepresentations’ about its position by Prologis – which it has accused of trying to buy it ‘on the cheap’.

Segro last month rejected a 925p-a-share offer from Prologis, the world’s largest real estate investment trust (REIT), branding the bid ‘inadequate’ and ‘opportunistic’.

Prologis claims its offer represents ‘compelling value’ for Segro shareholders.
