After bombshell sexual assault allegations blew up Eric Swalwell’s campaign for California governor, voters are scrutinizing which Democrats could be the next likely winner — including Tom Steyer and his dance moves.

Multiple clips have resurfaced on social media in the past few days, as users mocked him for his shapes on the stage.

One video shows the progressive billionaire, one of two leading Democrats in the race, dancing next to rapper Juvenile to his hit song ““Back That Azz Up.”

Steyer is seen crouching down with the rapper then awkwardly thrusting his hips, moving his arms around and wiggling his butt to the song.

At one point, as he’s nodding his head, he gestures to the audience to suggest he’s enjoying the moment. “This is who Californians may choose to be their Governor,” one user commented. “Epic levels of cringe.”

Others users suggested he was pandering to a black audience as he danced to rap music.

“Tom Steyer’s idea of ‘black outreach,'” one user commented on another clip of that same event. “Pure pandering cringe.”

The filmed incident was during a campaign stop in South Carolina, when Steyer ran his failed campaign for president in 2020. The state is known to contain a key voting bloc of black voters for the Democratic Party.

Steyer and Juvenile danced on stage at Allen University, a historically black college, in February of that year. The pounding music and a dazzling light show was reportedly in front of a half-empty gym.

Other incidents from Steyer’s 2020 run have also made the runs around social media after the Swalwell implosion.

For example, people shared again a clip from a Democratic presidential debate where the billionaire awkwardly stood next to a private, heated moment between U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.

While Steyer did not win the presidency, he is currently near the top of polls in his bid this year to be California’s governor.
