Forget toddler tantrums and elementary school conferences, when kids hit the teen years, parenting changes … a lot. Parents with teenagers are always questioning whether or not they’re doing things correctly. And deciding which things are worth stressing over and which should be let go is tough. In fact, it’d be nice if teenagers came with a manual that let moms and dads know exactly how to handle all the big-kid problems that arise during those years.

While such a manual doesn’t really exist, TikToker and mom-of-teens Christie Hensley recently shared a TikTok that lists the small things she’s decided not to stress over when raising her teenagers. The TikTok has received nearly two million views and is captioned simply: “Things I do not care about as a SAHM to teens.”

Hensley’s first point tackles teens having friends over to hang out or sleep over. “Your friends can usually come over. I honestly do not remember the last time I said no to this,” she says in the clip. “I love having everyone over, feeding them, letting them play games, letting them swim in the pool, doing whatever they want. I will, generally, always say yes.”

Next up? The type of music teens listen to. “Conviction is real and that is on you,” says Hensley. “If you wanna listen to gangster rap in all their glory of what they have to talk about … then you do you and whenever you’re convicted about it, follow through with that.”

“I do not care if they sleep in,” Hensley says in her third point. “There’s a good chance they probably needed it if they are sleeping in until noon.”

Next, Hensley throws it back to her own “’90s kid” childhood. “If you go in and outside 400 times, I do not care,” she says. “If you wanna go swim five times in a day, do it. It does not bother me whatsoever. Take a popsicle. Have the best time.”

Hensley’s kids are also “athletes,” so she does not care how often they eat during their day. “Fuel your body,” she says. “Eat good stuff. If you need to eat five times, eat five times.” And, the Arkansas mom isn’t interested in policing her kids’ wardrobes. “I don’t care what you wear,” she says, “I’m gonna teach you about modesty but, at the end of the day, if you want to wear a string bikini, go for it, girl.”

“Strut your stuff,” she says as the video comes to a  close. “I will not lean into the ways of having to change how you feel about your body to conform to the people that are weird around you.”

Sounds like a pretty solid list to us. After all, life with teens is tough enough sometimes without creating extra things to lecture them about.
