One of many interesting takeaways from this week's AMD Advancing AI event in San Francisco was word that ROCm will be on a rigid six week release cycle moving forward.

Rather than on the roughly quarterly release cycle for feature X.Y releases, ROCm is moving to ship new feature releases every six weeks to more aggressively get new features, performance optimizations, and hardware support into the hands of users quicker.

This shift to the six week release cycle for ROCm comes following the recent release of ROCm 7.14 as the first production release built atop TheRock. Now with the new build infrastructure in place, buckle up for more rapid ROCm releases.

I also raised the issue at AAI over the awkward versioning considering it's going from ROCm 7.2 to ROCm 7.14 for production while ROCm 7.9 through ROCm 7.13 releases were "tech preview" versions. And now with moving to a six week release cycle... It sounds like some changes are thankfully abound when it comes to the versioning moving forward but no news to share on that today.

Look for the next ROCm release in August and that six week release is what's going to ship the new ROCm.AI software.
