Agriculture Minister P. Prasad on Friday said proper training and guidance for entrepreneurs in the initial stage would help the creation of more agriculture-based self-employment ventures in Kerala.

Addressing the valedictory session of the ‘Rise Up’ entrepreneurs’ meet hosted by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) in Kozhikode, the Minister said the new agricultural ventures would be approved only if the entrepreneurs were capable of presenting it in a good way before the authorities.

“The first phase of any enterprise begins with the preparation of a project report. The Detailed Project Report Clinics functioning in Kerala have helped many entrepreneurs clear the hurdles and shape the future of many successful entrepreneurs,” said Mr. Prasad. He pointed out that the Agricultural department had initiated many innovative measures for fostering entrepreneurship in the sector.

Mr. Prasad also stressed the importance of presenting agricultural products to the market in the best possible way for business growth. He also noted that quality packaging was a key factor in attracting consumers in the competition-driven open market.

After the valedictory session, the Minister also interacted with the entrepreneurs who came to the IISR campus to take part in the Rise Up event. He also enquired about the features of various products and services they displayed as part of the exhibition.

IISR officials said the event drew the participation of over 100 agri-based entrepreneurs from various parts of the State. They said the programme was organised under the aegis of the IISR’s Agri Business Incubator to facilitate the direct interaction between buyers and sellers and help them understand the scope of successful ventures.
