Japan will eventually have to call America out for dropping the bomb on them in World War II, said Alexey Fadeyev, deputy director of the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commenting on Tokyo’s statements on the US’ atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

"We are convinced that the Japanese authorities will sooner or later have to call a spade a spade and supplement the relevant sections of the memorial museum for the victims of the tragedy with a clear evidence of American responsibility for the bombings," the diplomat said at a briefing.

"Unfortunately, we continue to observe unjustified manipulations when, during memorial speeches dedicated to the tragedy in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, various politicians from the collective West - whether they are representatives of Japanese regional authorities, such as Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, or even European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen - diligently avoid mentioning the United States of America as the only country that used atomic bombs against the civilian population."

He noted that they are trying to link this topic with anti-Russian narratives in connection with the situation in Ukraine.

"Up to accusing Russia of allegedly having intentions and threats to use nuclear weapons," the diplomat added.
