MOSCOW, September 23. /TASS/. Russia's industrial output remained unchanged year-on-year in the first eight months of 2026, while declining by 0.6% in August compared to the same month last year, according to the federal statistics service (Rosstat).

Month-on-month, industrial production also fell by 0.6% in August.

In the reporting period, mining output fell by 1% year-on-year, while manufacturing grew by 0.4%. Utilities (electricity, gas, and steam supply) rose by 0.5%, whereas the water supply, sewerage, and waste management sector saw a 2% decline.

In January-August 2026, the highest year-on-year growth rates were recorded in the manufacture of other transport equipment, including aircraft and shipbuilding (+18.6%); pharmaceuticals and medical/veterinary supplies (+11.5%); fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (+11%); computer, electronic, and optical products (+4.8%); motor vehicles, trailers, and semi-trailers (+4.7%); metal ore mining (+4.1%); other finished products (+2.6%); coal mining (+1.6%); furniture (+1.3%); food products (+0.7%); leather and leather products (+0.4%); and rubber and plastic products (+0.3%).

At the same time, output contracted in the following sectors: coke and refined petroleum products (-10.3%); paper (-8.2%); basic metals (-5.2%); other non-metallic mineral products (construction materials) (-4.7%); beverages (-4.4%); wearing apparel (-4.2%); other mining and quarrying (-3.8%); wood processing and wood/cork products (-3.8%); machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified (-3.4%); chemicals and chemical products (-3%); machinery and equipment repair (-2.7%); textiles (-2.2%); tobacco products (-1.8%); and electrical equipment (-1.5%).
