MOSCOW, September 24. /TASS/. Moscow would welcome a meeting between the leaders of Russia, the United States and China - Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping - during the APEC summit in Shenzhen in November, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko told TASS in an interview.

"As for the possibility of a trilateral Russia-US-China meeting on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Shenzhen, nothing can be ruled out," the diplomat said. According to him, "if China took this on - which, of course, would require certain efforts and diplomatic preparations - the Russian side would highly welcome such an initiative."

"We believe that the prerogative of organizing such a meeting belongs to the summit hosts," the Russian deputy foreign minister said. Rudenko noted that holding a trilateral meeting "requires the willingness and consent of all parties."

Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that a trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, China and the United States at the upcoming APEC summit was hypothetically possible but had not yet been scheduled. Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said that if the summit hosts were able to arrange such a meeting, it would certainly be useful.

Putin is expected to lead the Russian delegation at the APEC summit, scheduled for November 18-19 in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, southern China. According to Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Marat Berdyev, this demonstrates the importance Russia attaches to developing economic ties with its partners in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly China.
