Amanda Holden has been raving about the skincare benefits of salmon sperm serums

Amanda Holden always looks polished and effortless. One of the TV star's trademarks is her effortlessly glowy skin that is the envy of her fans.

The Britain's Got Talent panellist is a big fan of Rodial's Salmon DNA Water Oil. Taking to Instagram, Amanda, 55, captioned her video post: "The Rodial's Salmon DNA Water Oil is the best alternative (to salmon sperm injectables) and has become my shortcut to hydrated, plumper-looking, radiant skin. All the glow, but none of the appointment!"

However, as with most Rodial products, the serum comes with a steep price tag at £150 (for 30ml bottle). Beauty buffs looking for a cheaper alternative may like Medicube Salmon DNA PDRN Pink Peptide Serum, currently priced at £16.90 on Amazon.

It's popular with buyers, as more than 30,000 bottles of this Amazon's Choice item have been purchased in the last month alone', reports the Mirror. Medicube is a viral Korean skincare brand that has been popular for the last few years, with countless products trending on social media.

Salmon DNA PDRN originates from salmon sperm, which some skincare experts believe stimulates collagen synthesis and skin moisture, while promoting cellular renewal for more luminous, supple skin. As well as this, Medicube's formula also contains niacinamide (improves 'clarity and radiance'), and peptides (tighten the complexion to 'lock in lasting hydration').

Medicube claims the serum enhances skin hydration, minimises the appearance of pores and evens out the complexion. It's described as having a featherlight consistency, can be used daily and works for all skin types.

Rodial's Salmon DNA Water Oil formula blends 59% active components to 'support cellular renewal, boost collagen and improve firmness and elasticity', while sealing in hydration. As a plant-based option, shoppers might consider the INKEY Lab PDRN Serum, available for £18 at Boots.

However, customers have taken to Amazon in their thousands to review and rate Medicube's Salmon DNA Serum. One buyer described it as the "absolute holy grail for my skin", adding: "I am completely obsessed with this serum and just purchased my second bottle! If you are looking for a product that delivers a serious, glass-like glow and intense hydration, this is it.

"The texture is beautiful-it has a gorgeous, lightweight pink formula that sinks into the skin immediately without feeling sticky or heavy. Since adding it to my routine, my skin looks noticeably plumper, smoother, and much more radiant."

Another pleased fan simply said: "Really nice product that feels good on the skin leaving a fresh glow," while a third added: "Great quality, excellent value and great on my skin."

That said, skincare remains incredibly individual, and not everybody experienced the same results. This customer remarked: "It feels nice on the skin but I can't work out if it's made it worse or better (I have combination skin if that helps). I liked it under my make up I felt it made me glow."
