NORWALK – Papa Johns Pizza at 345 Main Ave. in Norwalk, will soon join six other Papa Johns franchises in Connecticut.

Including the new Norwalk site there are seven Papa Johns in Connecticut, with locations in Bridgeport, Danbury, Hartford, Manchester, New Haven, and Waterford.

It’s unclear exactly when the new independent franchise at ParkWay Plaza will open, a corporate spokesperson said. It is listed on the Papa Johns' website as "temporarily closed," as of Feb. 19.

NBA great Shaquille O’Neal is a spokesperson and investor with Papa Johns. There is a  pizza named after O’Neal called a Shaq-a-Roni, a 16-inch pie topped with more than half-a-pound of cheese and covered with extra pepperoni, according to restaurantbusinessonline.com.

The national pizza chain has more than 6,000 restaurants, according to its website, selling more than 350,000 million pizzas a year.
