The U.S. Attorney’s Office held a press conference on Tuesday regarding a sex and human trafficking investigation at an adult bookstore on Harry Hines Boulevard.
Ryan Raybould, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, announced federal grand jury indictments against eight defendants in connection with a raid at Paris Adult Book Store, located at 11118 Harry Hines Blvd., in February.
According to Homeland Security investigators, Paris Bookstore engaged in sex and human trafficking for two decades.
“Paris Adult Bookstore operated as a sexually oriented business, but the indictment alleges it was far beyond any legitimate business activity,” Raybould said during the press conference. “The front of the store did sell novelty items, but the back consisted of locked hallways and rentable rooms used to facilitate commercial sex acts and human trafficking. According to the indictment, Paris profited by renting out these rooms and charging additional fees for access. It was widely understood that individuals that were engaged in commercial sex would go on what are called ‘dates’ outside the building, then they would walk into Paris and go to the back and pay the fee.”
Raybould said the defendants are identified as Aaron Tyrone Bedford, Monterey Lamont Mason, Eileen Mason, Montre Mason, Larry Jones, Krishenda Doss, Reginald Rose, and Antonio Dario Osorio Avilar.
All defendants face the charge of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, and some defendants face additional charges, including sex trafficking through force, fraud and coercion, sex trafficking of a minor, conspiracy to launder money, and felony possession charges, Raybould said.
Federal prosecutors said five of the eight counts involve human trafficking.
“As alleged, Paris employees ignored obvious warning signs of the commercial sex workers, some of whom were battered and bruised,” Raybould said.

8 defendants indicted in connection to Dallas adult business raid
NBC DFW cameras observed customers entering and leaving the Paris Bookstore on Tuesday after it reopened. However, Dallas police confirmed the adult novelty shop’s sexually oriented business license was revoked Tuesday morning.
Police said the business can remain open for at least 30 more days while an appeal is filed.
“There’s no longer Paris Bookstore. And we’re going to make sure that Paris Bookstore does not come back,” Dallas Chief of Police Daniel Comeaux said.
Andrew McGill, with the Northwest Dallas Business and Community Alliance, said the indictments represent progress for businesses along the corridor, where community leaders have long sought help addressing illegal sex solicitation.
“It’s a step in the right direction,” McGill said. “Symbolically, it’s very important. Practically, there’s a tremendous uphill battle to continue fighting.”
At the time of the raid, Dallas police confirmed that the investigation spanned multiple locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. A property in Plano associated with a suspect in the investigation at Paris Adult Book Store was also raided.
Federal prosecutors said their work in the Harry Hines corridor is far from over.
Travis Pickard, special agent in charge for Homeland Security Investigations in Dallas, explained that the investigation was called “Operation Midnights at Paris,” and that it was one of the longest-running commercial sex trafficking operations in North Texas.
“Human trafficking is not a victimless crime,” Pickard said. “It destroys families, devastates communities, and it strips people of their freedom, of their dignity, and in the most tragic cases, their lives.”
“To those who continue to exploit vulnerable individuals for financial gain, hear this clearly: HSI Dallas and our partners will continue to identify you,” Pickard said. “We will continue to investigate you. And we will bring you before the justice system, where you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, whether your crimes occur in plain sight or behind closed doors. We will not stop pursuing those who traffic human beings. To the survivors who may be listening today, you’re not forgotten. You’re not invisible.”
