(LifeSiteNews) — Lindsay Clancy’s defense attorneys have filed a motion asking a judge to question the lone holdout juror — a black Catholic father — in court as they also attempt to have the case against Clancy dismissed.

In the petition, Clancy’s defense asked that the court examine juror Michael Desronvil “on the record, with counsel present, on three subjects only: the truthfulness of the questionnaire and voir dire answers; the sworn assurance of September 3, 2026; and the use of mobile telephone or receipt of outside information during deliberations.”

In particular, Clancy’s trial attorney, Kevin Reddington, asked the court to obtain a record of calls and texts Desronvil may have made between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on each day the jury deliberated. 

Desronvil’s lawyer, Edward Andrew Paltzik, asserted that the motion is “not just an attack on Michael for being the courageous lone holdout juror.”

“Reddington’s motion is actually a full-frontal attack on the U.S. Constitution,” claimed Paltzik. “Because if the new normal is that jurors are going to face brutal reprisals for disagreeing with a defense attorney, you can kiss the Sixth Amendment goodbye.”

“If we follow his destructive proposal to its logical conclusion, we’re going to have an endless cycle of prosecutors investigating holdouts who oppose ‘guilty’ and defense attorneys investigating holdouts who oppose ‘not guilty,’ he added.

Desronvil, a Catholic from a family of Haitian immigrants, has previously said that he believes he has been targeted by other jurors because he is a “Black Republican with conservative views.”

Lindsay Clancy evaded conviction on September 4 for the 2023 murder of her three children. A mistrial was declared after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict. That she committed the heinous crime was undisputed, but the defense argued she was not responsible due to “postpartum psychosis.”

Meanwhile, an online fundraiser to help Desronvil cover possible legal fees as he fights to protect his reputation has topped $380,000 and continues to climb.

“If they come for him, and they will, this is to cover security, lawyers, and lost work,” notes an appeal at GiveSendGo.

“Lindsay killed them. Stand with him,”​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ urges the fundraiser.
