Fiery car crash kills woman, injures man in Garden Grove

Police in Garden Grove are investigating after a woman was killed overnight in a fiery single-vehicle car crash, they announced.
The crash was reported at 2:55 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Knott Street and Acacia Avenue, according to the Garden Grove Police Department. There, a white Toyota Highlander crashed into a utility pole, causing the vehicle to catch fire and leaving the driver and passenger unconscious.
Officers were able to extract both the driver and passenger from the vehicle and began to render aid. The passenger died at the scene while the driver was taken to UCI Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Law enforcement only described the passenger as a woman. Officials did not release further details about her, such as her approximate age or name. Further details on the driver were not released, either.
