BELGRADE, August 7. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to Belgrade is not in Serbia’s interests; he is not welcome in Serbia, in part because of Kiev’s support for Croatia in the 1990s, the Serbian League movement’s leader Aleksandar Durdev said.

"Serbia is a country with a short memory. Our people cannot welcome a person representing a state that supplied Croatia with weapons and ammunition in the 1990s, when Serbs were squeezed out of the Republic of Serbian Krajina during the criminal operations ‘Flash’ and ‘Storm.’ For us, this is not a forgotten history but an open wound of the Serbian people," the Pravda portal quoted him as saying.

According to Durdev, "the Serbian people has not forgotten that the Russians and Russia were their friends in the hardest historic moments." So, Zelensky’s visit "runs counter to Serbia’s interests today," he added.

Zelensky arrived in Belgrade on Friday. He was welcomed at the airport by Mining and Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic. He is expected to meet with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Saturday.
