BRIDGEPORT — An 18-year-old was found shot dead inside a car on Catherine Street Monday night, police said.

Bridgeport police identified the victim as Leon Richardson, but did not provide his city or town of residence.

Officers responded to Catherine Street after receiving reports of gunfire and a person being found bleeding inside a car around 6:45 p.m., police said. The street was closed for the department's Major Crimes Unit investigation for several hours after the discovery, police said. 

Police said the homicide marks the city's fifth in 2026, and said an investigation into it remains underway.
