BRIDGEPORT — A 19-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested Wednesday after he was caught with a loaded handgun with an altered serial number during a traffic stop, police said. 

Bridgeport police Det. Jeffrey A. Holtz identified the individual in a news release Thursday as Kyeshon Leven King. 

Holtz said officers pulled King over around 10:45 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and Lafayette Boulevard after he was spotted driving erratically. 

Officers then found a 9mm semiautomatic Glock handgun with a 40-round high-capacity magazine inside King's waistband, Holtz said. 

“There was one live round in the chamber of the firearm, which had an altered serial number,” Holtz said. 

King was charged with failure to drive in the proper lane, failure to obey a traffic control signal, disobeying the signal of an officer, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal alteration of a firearm, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. 

King was held on a $65,000 bond and was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
