Oh, dear. The City Council asking Longmont voters to support an increase in taxes for police and fire department but will not charge landing fees for the pilots that use the airport. Does the City Council think Longmont residents are that naive?

If you want childcare to be affordable again, cut taxes, reduce regulations. To be a childcare provider, you have to go to extreme lengths. The government sticks its finger in and things get more expensive. What do you expect?

Congratulations to the Longmont Times-Call for the awards that you have just won. You deserve every one and more. This paper keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work.

I went to the city’s website to fill out the satisfaction survey. It’s not there, because it’s an old link, so I went to Facebook, and people have been trying for the last two weeks to get through. The link goes to the 2024 satisfaction survey. Can you repost the correct link? Obviously, nobody has been in there for two weeks, because I posted something along the same line, so whoever is listening out there, whoever reads the Times-Call in the government, fix it.

Longmont has a police department that is not accessible to the tax-paying people of Longmont. There was nothing wrong with the old police station as it was, but I guess Longmont has money to burn, so they had to change everything so you can’t even get into the building.

This is for everybody’s information. I just got my first $75 ticket for speeding on Highway 119 on my way from Boulder to Longmont. It was a work zone on a Saturday. There were no people working at all. There was rather no traffic. I assume there’s no traffic, because everybody’s getting a ticket. Perhaps the law doesn’t distinguish whether people are working or not working, so if you see the red cones and a speeding sign of 55, you better follow it even though you’re the only person on the road.

“Toponymic narcissism,” an interesting article in Time by Redwood and Alderman the states over the past year Trump’s obsession with naming places has given rise to the new term toponymic narcissism, which refers to the condition of being obsessed with naming places after oneself. In many respects, Trump tends to approach the world map much like the Greek mythical figure of Narcissus, who viewed a body of water and said it was an opportunity to admire the reflection of his own self-image.
