Quite often, including in this morning’s paper, there are stories of various government bodies providing financial gain to private businesses under the guise that it will provide more employment. These are companies often from out of state, sometimes from out of the country, that produce items that have little direct benefit for the community. Enabling childcare providers to exist by helping them compete with other employers provides numerous public benefits in the money is spent almost entirely in our community instead of enriching people elsewhere.

Councilman Sean McCoy has not just the right but also the duty to represent his constituents. I’m not in his neighborhood, but of course, flight patterns, heights and timing need restrictions to reduce the very serious impact poised on Longmont residents by airplane traffic. Airport supporters are again demonstrating that they are an elitist anti-democracy minority. We need to stand up for our Longmont citizens and residents.

I find it funny that a former AAB (Airport Advisory Board) member is still adamant about stopping landing fees by asking that a council member who supports the community at large be removed from airport issues. The former AAB seems to be quite a bunch of … losers, especially when they were singlehandedly involved in their own demise for various conflict-of-interest reasons and specifically for Sunshine Law violations and working with the airport manager himself to work against council’s direction to pursue landing fees.

Regarding the push for ranked choice voting, it will in fact disenfranchise a block of voters. Colorado already has a one-party rule, which isn’t democratic anyway, proven by where the state has gone. Talk about fascism and dystopia. There you are.

I still don’t see any handicap spots on Main Street. This is ridiculous. City Council does all kinds of stupid things, like building thousands of apartments in Longmont. … here they are bringing thousands more cars into Longmont. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of. But you know, if you’re going to screw up Main Street, why won’t you put handicap spots on every block? That is ridiculous. You just throw the handicap people under your socialist buses.

If you really want prices to go down you should realize that billionaires make money off us, yeah, but that the government takes far more in taxes than the billionaires ever will or ever did. We need lower taxes.
